Do you ever feel like you need to hit the internal restart button? Our bodies accumulate toxins and acid over the years, due to environmental, nutritional and energetic factors. While some of these things may seem out of direct control, diet is very much a result of small daily conscious choices.

Becoming educated about nutrition, the body, and the effects of repetitious habits, will make all the difference in the overall quality of life we experience. The human body is an intelligent organism, capable of renewing and healing itself. Food is a critical factor in this process, allowing energy to build, or to be depleted.
Whole foods act as medicine, bringing energy, essential vitamins, and minerals. The effects of an improper diet can be observed most directly in the skin, hair and nails. An accumulation of acid, from a primarily processed food diet, can lead to may ailments, and even cause the skin to lose luster.
A lifestyle change happens one day, one choice at a time. Nourish your body with intention and love, and feel the change for yourself. In my personal experience, this awareness and gentle daily discipline regarding food, resulted in increased health, energy, weight loss, and noticeably glowing skin.

Glowing Green Detox Smoothie
Spinach - 1 generous handful
Black Lacinato Kale - 4 Leaves, washed and stem removed
Grapefruit - 1 large, or 2 small
Lemon - ½ or to taste
1 Ripe Banana
* Use fresh organic ingredients if available, especially the greens.
Kale Storage
For easy daily access, wash kale ahead of time, shake off the excess water, and refrigerate in a container with layers of paper towels in between the leaves. The paper towels will help to absorb any moisture and keep the leaves freshly crisp.
Preparation
Use a citrus juicer for both the lemon and grapefruit.
Remove the stems from the kale and tear the leaves into smaller pieces before blending.
Layer the banana, then the spinach and kale, and finally the juices.
Feel free to add some water if you feel it is necessary -- the mixture will be quite thick. Additional ingredients may also be added for flavor. Find your favorite combination!
Blend Well and Enjoy.
Tips for Success
There are many varieties of kale, and I have tried them all. Black lacinato kale works best for blending raw, due to the mild flavor of the leaves. Other varieties create a highly bitter flavor, making the smoothie far less enjoyable.
Invest in a reusable straw -- it will be easier to drink and will taste better. Give it a stir to keep the consistency.
The nutrients are fresh, and do not keep well. Enjoy immediately!
